Remember this from a year ago this month?

Cool cover, huh? It's for an interesting article, Goodbye to All That: Why Obama Matters in The Atlantic by right-wing neo-con Andrew Sullivan.
The logic behind the candidacy of Barack Obama is not, in the end, about Barack Obama. It has little to do with his policy proposals, which are very close to his Democratic rivals’ and which, with a few exceptions, exist firmly within the conventions of our politics. It has little to do with Obama’s considerable skills as a conciliator, legislator, or even thinker. It has even less to do with his ideological pedigree or legal background or rhetorical skills. Yes, as the many profiles prove, he has considerable intelligence and not a little guile. But so do others, not least his formidably polished and practiced opponent Senator Hillary Clinton.
Special note: I'm not a fan of Andrew Sullivan (which is why I'm not giving him the courtesy of linking directly to his site). I think he's a world-class asshole, and by that I mean that he's a nasty, slippery, ethically-challenged neo-con rethuglian scumbag. He's got a real gift for reinventing himself. People must have very short memories to forget some of his well-known life-endangering shenagians ( and by that i mean his recreational activities (muscular white due with HIV who places personal ads specifically looking for musclar black dudes to have bareback parties with; translation: an anonymous anal sex gang bang MINUS the condoms).

Today is National Coming Out Day, and despite it's name, this event is celebrated in many countries around the world (and on October 12th in the UK).

Founded in 1988 by Dr. Robert Eichberg and Jean O'Leary to celebrate the Second National March on Washington for Lesbian and Gay Rights one year earlier when 500,000 people marched on Washington, DC, United States in support of for equality for gay people, the purpose behind National Coming Out Day events is to raise awareness of the LGBT community among the general populace.

And of course, there's a video contest. It's being sponsored by the Human Rights Campaign, the organization which coordinates the event in the States. Here's the official NCOD video from the HRC:
